The Rev. Dr. Fr. Bolmax Pereira Memorial Lecture brought together faith, science and environmental action, continuing the ecological vision and legacy of Rev. Dr. Fr. Bolmax Pereira (1976-2026).
Parishioners, students, teachers, environmentalists, researchers and academicians gathered to reflect on the environmental challenges facing Goa and the responsibility of communities to respond.

Dr. Roxy Mathew Koll – Climate Scientist and Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar recipient – delivered the keynote lecture: “Climate Change: Understanding the Challenge and What It Means for Goa”
Dr. Roxy highlighted Goa’s vulnerable position between a rapidly warming Arabian Sea and the ecologically sensitive Western Ghats. He spoke about increasing heat, extreme rainfall, flooding and coastal risks, while warning that the destruction of forests, wetlands, khazans, waterways and coastal ecosystems weakens Goa’s natural resilience.

From Awareness to Action
Padma Shri Norma Alvares delivered the address: “Protecting Goa: From Environmental Awareness to Community Action”
Padma Shri Norma Alvares reminded the gathering that Goa is more than a destination – it is a home of villages, rivers, hills, forests, orchards, fields, biodiversity and cultural heritage. She called upon citizens to see themselves as stewards of creation and to protect Goa for future generations.
The programme continued with a “From Knowledge to Action” conversation and audience interaction, encouraging communities and institutions to move from awareness towards practical ecological action.
