Remembering St. Francis of Assisi
The year 2026 marks the 800th anniversary of the Transitus — the passing of St. Francis of Assisi from earthly life into eternal life. The Franciscan family remembers this moment not simply as the death of a saint, but as the completion of a life devoted entirely to Christ and the Gospel.
St. Francis welcomed Sister Death with faith and peace. His life continues to remind us that true joy is found in simplicity, humility, fraternity, service to the poor and a deep love for all God’s creation.
This Centenary is an invitation to remember his witness, rediscover the values by which he lived and allow the Gospel to renew our own lives.

Theme for 2026
A Time for Renewal and Conversion
The 8th Centenary is a year of grace for the entire Church — a time to give thanks for the life and witness of St. Francis and to renew our commitment to living the Gospel with greater faithfulness.
It invites us to look beyond commemoration and ask how the Franciscan spirit can take root in our daily lives, families and communities. Through prayer, reflection and simple acts of love, we are called to deepen our relationship with Christ, strengthen our bonds with one another and care more responsibly for our common home.
The Jubilee reminds us that holiness is lived through ordinary choices: sharing generously, serving with humility, forgiving one another, building peace and recognising every person as a brother or sister.
